Kitai Gorod is the area right outside of red square. I was just struck by the old architecture blending (or not) with the stark soviet buildings, and the decay.

Around the corner from the south end of red square. The sign on the door says the 'through way is closed'

The same doorway, a different angle.

This building is around the corner from the metro station 'ploshod revolutsii'.

Another view of the above building.

Another close up of the blue builiding and it's decay.

This is one of my favorites.

The not quite arab not quite asian not quite european architecture.

This building I found out, belongs to my univeristy (RSUH).

The entrance to the above building.

Looking down the street where the above buildings are. The sign says "Eat! As much as you can".

South of red square

Around the corner from st. basils cathedral

An old monestary dwarfed by the looming soviet construction of Hotel Rossiya.

The door to the little monestary.

A view of the kremlin from the south east I believe.
